Water attractions

Water trails in the Strzelce – Drezdenko County are most importantly the Noteć river (New and Old) and Drawa. There are many attractions waiting for the tourists, including passes joining lakes together, which allows easy passage between water reservoirs, which may also be used for sailing. There are holiday resorts located by the lakes, which serve as leisure and sports centres, where tourists may rent water equipment, bikes, kayaks and use the yacht harbour.

Drawa

It is the most beautiful and clean rivers in Poland, and its kayak route is considered as one of the most attractive ones. The river has unique sightseeing and natural values, thus it is under protection on almost its entire length. the river’s upper course is protected by the Drawa Landscape Park, its central and lower course, by the Drawa National Park. The river flows through Drawa Lake District and Drawa Plain, where the Drawa Forest is situated. Its uniqueness is mainly due to frequent changes of the river’s character from narrow to wide, from deep to shallow, from calm to fast. On its entire length the river meanders through a deep mid-forest valley or among vast, wet meadows. Drawa as a kayak route was known in Europe already in the interwar period. Pope John Paul II used to swim down the river several times, thus the route was named after him.

Lubusz Masuria

Lakes near Dobiegniewo and Strzelce Krajeńskie create the second longest shipping lane in Poland, right after the Masurian lakes, which is 1000 ha of water. The water trail set within the "Lubusz Masuria" starts in Długie, over the Lipie lake. Next the trail runs through a pass to the Słowa lake and then through a canal to the Osiek lake. Then it runs through Mierzęcka Struga river to the Wielgie Dobiegniewskie lake. Water damming on the Wielgie lake, improving the width, depth and radius of curvature on the Mierzęcka Struga river is the next stage of the project. By using the system of canals and passes it will be possible to reach the Drawa and then the Noteć river. The length of the water trail would be approx. 75 km. Drawa and Noteć rivers will give access to Warta and Oder, and then to the Baltic Sea or to Berlin using the Havel canal. In 2008 the "Lubusz Masuria" trail considered a brand product of the Lubusz Voivodeship.

STRZELCE KRAJEŃSKIE COMMUNE

• beginning of the kayak trail along the Lipie lake runs through the following lakes: Słowa - Małe – Osiek, through the Mierzęcka Struga river towards Wielgie lake in Dobiegniew commune;

DREZDENKO COMMUNE

• kayak trail along the Noteć river,
• kayak trail Stara Noteć through Drezdenko to Klesno,
• kayak trail along the Drawa river, possibility to rest at the Przeborowo harbour;

DOBIEGNIEW COMMUNE

• kayak trail along the Draw river,
• river ports in Osieczno and Podszkale, possibility to camp in the Drawa National Park: "Sitnica", "Pstrąg", "Kamienna",
• kayak trail along Mierzęcka Struga through the Wielgie lake (Dobiegniew) – Mierzęcin Strzelecki –Drawa river – Przeborowo –Noteć river (Krzyż Wlkp. (22 km));

STARE KUROWO COMMUNE

• kayak trail along the Noteć river- harbour in Głęboczek;

GMINA ZWIERZYN

• kayak trail, the so-called “Small Loop”: Santok - Górecko - Stara Noteć and the so-called “Big Pętla” Santok - Gościmiec (Stara Noteć), Kanał Winniczek - Gościmiec – Santok.
